In order for the science team to achieve their aims and objectives, they must complete certain tasks – these tasks must be carried out using pre-determined methods, in a methodical manner, so that they support the overall goals of the science plan.

Every day the members of the science team must work as a single-unit in order to achieve their common goals. It is important to remember that costs of working at sea are high, and hence the planning is vital – there is no option to extend the trip, or to go back with the same research in mind.
